Washington Foundation Awards Grants
The Drummond Public Library will receive a grant of $8940.00 from
the Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation in order to consolidate
the public library with Drummond's school libraries. This will provide
the community and surrounding towns with more hours of service and
Internet access.
The Florence Crittenton Home of Helena which serves pregnant, parenting,
and at risk adolescent girls is upgrading their home in Helena.
The Washington Foundation is happy to assist by purchasing sixteen
new mattresses and other bedding for the home. The Florence Crittenton
Home has been in existence for 101 years and has successfully provided
the healthy surroundings needed for the adolescent girls it has
served.
A $10,000 grant will be presented to the Helena Area Habitat for
Humanity. The money will be used to help fund a single family dwelling
as well as a two unit townhouse in the Helena area. This project
will provide three low-income families with homes of their own and
the Washington Foundation is happy to contribute to their efforts.
St. Andrew Schools in Helena will be given a grant of $10,000.
This grant will be used to create a playground/park area to be utilized
by students at recess and Physical Education classes and by families
in the neighborhood for recreation. The parents, neighbors, and
supporters of St. Andrews are working hard to make this project
a reality.
The Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation is pleased to award
Loyola Sacred Heart High School of Missoula with a $50,000 grant
over a two year period. The funds will be used for the renovation
of existing science laboratories and for purchasing new science
equipment for these labs. This project will assist Loyola in Continuing
to provide outstanding education to hundreds of young adults.
The Washington Foundation has supported and made a difference in
the lives of the students at the Montana School for the Deaf and
Blind, and will continue to do so with a grant of $40,000. This
grant will help provide the sensory impaired students of Montana
with adaptive and computer technology. This grant will help ensure
a quality education for the sensory impaired, and prepare these
students to become self-sufficient, productive citizens in a technological
age.
The Washington Foundation will provide transportation for western
Montana kids who will be attending Young Life camp at the "Washington
Family Camp" in Oregon this summer. The Washington's donated
their ranch in Oregon to Young Life and have enjoyed watching it
grow and change the lives of millions of kids. The foundation is
excited to support Montana kids who can attend the camp.
