Washington Foundation Honors Montana College History Scholars


History scholars from Montana's state, private, and tribal colleges were honored for their research at the Montana Historical Society's 28th Annual History Conference in Helena October 26 and 27. Washington Foundation Awards for Historical Excellence and $1,000 scholarships from the Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation were presented to six students who delivered their papers during the conference. In presenting the awards, Foundation President Russ Ritter said that Montana history and heritage, as well as educational opportunities for Montana's young people, are especially important to the Foundation.

Those persons receiving awards were: Amy Kirscher Baird, Carrol College, Helena; Scott Meredith, University of Montana, Missoula; David Ramsey, Montana State University, Bozeman; Frederick Left Hand, Litttle Big Horn College, Crow Agency; Dion Little of Dull Knife Memorial College, Lame Deer; Chaney Bell, Salish Kootenai College, Pablo.
