Montana Rail Link recognized with national safety award for third consecutive year.

The American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) awarded MRL the Silver Award for outstanding safety performance and the achievement of its employees during the year of 2000. This award is given to all MRL employees for their outstanding dedication to safety and their recognition that safety is of first importance.

On behalf of Montana Rail Link, a donation of $1,000 will be made next week to the American Red Cross Relief Fund.

This was the third year in a row that MRL was recognized for its safety performance, and the second year that the monetary award was presented on behalf of MRL. Last year's $1,000 donation was presented to the Missoula County Fire Protection Association. Dan Watts, MRL President stated, "Winning this prestigious award for the third year in a row is a very proud moment for all MRL employees. It is particularly gratifying to be able to contribute to the American Red Cross Relief Fund during this difficult time in our Country."

CANAC INC. and Marsh Inc. sponsor the ASLRRA safety award. The two organizations annually donate $1,000 to a safety-related charity in the name of the winning railroad.

MRL officials will present the donation to the American Red Cross on January 8th at 2:00 pm at the ARC headquarters located at 1001 East Broadway.
